Our Cabin Room 11012
I was lucky enough to be invited on Norwegian Cruise Lines newest and largest ship Epic for the inaugural sailing. And boy was she a beauty.......
We arrived at the dock to board this amazing ship at 11:00 AM and the embarkment was pretty smooth, although not as wonderful as Royal Caribbeans Oasis of the Seas, but to be fair, it was their first sailing and they did a pretty good job. I hate to keep comparing, but this ship will certainly WOW you but it is all about the restaurants and entertainment on Epic, where Oasis had more unique things to offer with the wonderful neighborhoods as well as fantastic speciality restaurants and entertainment.
I am going to start with the negative first, only because there are only a few but unfortunately a major one. The rooms..... Seemed to be everyone complaint. They were very pretty, but not at all practical. Lots of storage on the new "wave" designed rooms, but very tight quarters with very short, but comfortable beds. The other strange thing is the bath. When you enter the room, to the left is the toilet with a frosted glass enclosure, just to the right of that is the shower, on the opposite side of the room, not in with the toilet. They do supply a privacy curtain, but it still makes it a little difficult to maneuver around and the strangest part is the sink is in the room, by the couch not in with the toilet. Very strange. And the couch was totally useless, just took up too much space. I think NCL tried to be a little too innovative and missed the boat, so to speak.....
The suites however were lovely as well as the Studio rooms for single travelers. I have to say, I really liked those rooms better than the balcony room we had, the room was smaller, but laid out much better, plus they had a private lounge (living room) just for the guest in the Studio rooms. Very nice.... (See photos to follow).
The suite guest also had some extra special amenities like the gorgeous Epic Lounge and restaurant as well as a private pool area.
